The LEDES XML E-Billing Version 2.0 format was introduced in 2006 to improve on LEDES 2000.
Changes from LEDES 2000 to LEDES XML Legal Electronic Billing Version 2.1 includes the ability to bill alternate fee arrangements, itemize complex taxes, credits and debits on a matter, and supports multiple vendor tax identification numbers. LEDES XML E-Billing 2.0 eliminates also contains elements to support international currencies an invoice math statement from LEDES 2000.
LEDES XML Legal Electronic Billing Version 2.1
This edition was an improvement upon version 2.0 that was implemented in 2008. The changes implemented were made in order to support global billing and tax requirements. One of the largest upgrades was how to handle specific taxes which may be unique to a matter.
